The last few years have seen significant improvements to the hospital care provided at Wexham, Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville following previous poor performance. I know that our fantastic NHS staff continue to work above and beyond the call of duty to deliver the best care under considerable pressure but is also clear that there are still substantial shortages in our local GP provision in some areas.
In relation to the provision of healthcare by the NHS in our communities I will continue to work as I have done in the past with the Clinical Commissioning Group to get these problems addressed and resolved.
I have particular concerns about mental health provision, which often overlaps with issues around adult and adolescent social care. I will continue to do what I can working with fellow Buckinghamshire MPs to ensure continuous improvements to these services.
I support more money being made available to the NHS as is being promised by all political parties. This service, like most of our public services, needs more funding especially with an ageing population, However, as with all Government expenditure substantial increases require a growing economy to support this too. Without that, funding can only be found by raising the level of taxes or increasing borrowing.
